After failing at the Mathematics Olympiad and giving up on his dream of becoming a mathematician, Gaku Kitada meets Kai Asakura, a young genius chef, through a plate of spaghetti Napolitan he prepared at the school cafeteria. It is then that a terrible piece of news will turn his life upside down.
After impressing the benefactors of Wels Academy with his "mathematical method" spaghetti Napolitan, Gaku is invited by Kai to visit his Tokyo restaurant. There, he faces a challenge from Chef Ranna Akamatsu.
Gaku unexpectedly reunites with Kagura Musashi, his childhood friend and former Math Olympiad rival. Disappointed by his decision to leave math behind, she scoffs—until he serves her a dish crafted through logical precision.
Realizing that the path of cooking leads to the "Gate of Truth," Takeru takes the hand of Umi, who boasts that he will "challenge God with cooking." After graduating from school at the top of his class, Takeru moves to Tokyo and begins living with Umi as an apprentice chef at "K." Umi, who has noticed Takeru's fatal weakness, puts him in charge of the meals at "K" and gives him the task of creating meals that will satisfy all the staff within a week. Takeru enters "K" kitchen in high spirits, but is horrified by the harshness of the battlefield.
