Jack Carter stars with guests singer Joan Edwards, actor Peter Lorre, bird whistlers The Arnauts, comedy team McCarthy and Farrell, and acrobats The Fontaines. Lorre does a recitation of "The Telltale Heart" and joins Carter in a mad scientist sketch. Edwards performs at the piano and teams with Carter for "You're Adorable."
Lester as a clown called Arthur Clodfrey (takeoff on Arthur Godfrey), magician Galli-Galli make baby chicks appear under cups, MacDonnell sings "The Boy Next Door", and Jackie Robinson appears in a sketch visiting a kid in a wheelchair.
Jackie Gleason debuts as host with Rose Marie, comic Hank Ladd, acrobat Ladd Lyon, singing DeCastro Sisters, and dancer Evelyn Farney. Gleason duets with Rose and in a sketch at a hat check counter. DeCastros sing a Latin-American number.
