Perhaps this island is not what it seems... and Obie and Bingie find a new friend who spends most of his days just floating around.

Obie and Bingie's house is invaded by mice that have scampered out of one of Obie's drawings. Falling into the drawing, Obie and Bingie end up near a barn, at night, and are frightened by an owl. This meeting with the nocturnal predator, famous catcher of mice, gives the two friends a bright idea for getting rid of their little pests.

Obie and Bingie cut shadow puppets from paper. The shadow of a bat comes to life and steals their scissors. Obie and Bingie pursue it onto the rooftops, ending up in a bell tower and crashing into a big bell. The clanging wakes the neighbours, who complain and tell them to go home. First, though, they get their scissors back and learn how a bat is able to find its way in the dark.

It's Mrs Blue Jay’s birthday and Obie & Bingie go to the woods to bring her a cake, but a hungry owl follows them. They build a xylophone out of acorns, nuts, and twigs, and play "happy birthday to you". The owl dives on the jays. Obie and Bingie save the day by throwing the cake in the owl's face. Back home, Obie is tired and would like to rest, but Bingie wants to practice with his new xylophone. Sleeping is impossible!

A young, chubby raccoon named Rachel is raiding Obie and Bingie's food cupboards. Rachel is soon eating them out of house and home. Having found such easy access to food, she has become lazy and has no desire to fend for herself in the wild. To find out where the Raccoon belongs, Obie and Bingie venture into a deep forest, and -with the help of a grandfather raccoon -find the raccoon’s real habitat. Back at home, they set a trail of delicious foods from her natural habitat that lead her back to her real den.

Obie and Bingie venture in the woods to pick up mushrooms. Bingie fancies himself an expert in mushroom picking. All tired out, they take a nap under an oak tree where two jays are building their new nest. The jays tell them that all of the mushrooms they've collected are poisonous. Obie and Bingie are very disappointed, but soon behind a bush they find a huge mushroom - which is edible and big enough to make mushroom soup for everybody in the forest!

Bingie can't fall asleep. Obie suggests he count sheep, until one sheep is heard baaing under his bed. It's a lamb, who's run away from the farm because he was afraid to be sheared. Obie and Bingie have to persuade him to go back to the farm, explaining the many good things that can be made out of wool.

Albert the deer has a problem: two possums lost their tree home to a storm and chose his antlers as their new “hang-out”. But the deer's antlers will soon fall off. Obie and Bingie, with the help of their new camera, help the possums find a new home, taking a load off Albert's head.
