Its GCSE results day for best friends Jay and Yemi. But while Yemi’s results open the doors to the college of his dreams, Jay’s results mean a potential future working for his dad. Determined not to become a ‘boiler man’ Jay turns his focus to a local music talent competition called Mic Star. He believes this is the answer for his future. If only he can convince Yemi likewise. On enrolment day for Chairwood, Yemi meets current student Davina, who has an interesting take on Mic Star, and could change Yemi’s mind.

Jay and Yemi enter the world of Boxes nightclub, determined to win Mic Star. Their competition doesn’t seem as heavyweight as first expected, but the hostile crowd puts enough fear into the boys, for them to know that this won’t be easy. Davina struggles with her own nerves but finds a pleasant distraction in Jay.

After the Boxes debacle Jay attempts to get his phone back from Jodie – but she’s not gonna give it up easily. Yemi invites Davina to his bedroom studio to record. However Jay’s response to this is less than warm.

Jay begins his first day working with his dad but this brings an opportunity that he believes will propel the Youngers into the big time. Yemi meets popular local MC collective the Avengers Krew at a houseparty. They invite the Youngers to use their studio but things don’t go quite to plan.

Jay takes it upon himself to make a music video (with the help of Davina) to make amends for Enigma. However without Yemi he makes a mess of things. While Jay and Davina get closer as they make the video, Yemi struggles to get to grips with his college work.

Davina has an idea to help boost the Youngers profile and get more online hits for their music video. Ashley meets an old friend who provides a way out of his money problems. He also gets the Youngers their first radio interview. And a rare act of chivalry from Jay ends in a complex situation.

Davina’s school performance is coming up but she can’t get Jay out of her head. Jay does his best to be loyal to Yemi. Yemi takes the plunge and asks Davina out. But soon finds out the real reason for her rejection. The Avengers Krew attempt to tap-up Yemi.

Ashley lines the Youngers up to be special guests on the Avengers Krew’s mixtape launch night concert. But unbeknownst to the others Yemi has already started work with A.K. Jay and Davina have a heart to heart. All seems to be sorted until the Mandem on the Wall have a say and things crumble apart.
